If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:1-3 ESV)
One of the benefits that is made available to us because of the cross is that we are able to think from an eternal heavenly perspective empowered by the grace of God. Just so thankful that in that heavenly perspective comes:
1) a deeper appreciation and worshipful gratitude for the possibility of being called His child, ushered to be seated with Him.
2) a thankfulness stemming from our new identity – He turns us from wretches to heirs!
3) we see the world, and especially those that don’t know Him yet, the way he sees them: Through the eyes of compassion that moves towards action.
4) we see the Church the way He sees us – as his beautiful bride, and we see Him for who he is – a selfless saviour King.
He has been made low so that we can “look up”.
How will you respond?
