40 Days – Day 27: Fathers – The return of the Josh and Neli show

The Josh and Neli show

If anything for my wife Tina and I, it’s been a year of birthing new things (yes even literally as we prepare for the birth of our new daughter). Won’t get into detail here, but one of the things that my friend Josh Harris and I started last year was our podcast – but because of the year of birthing new things that we’ve needed to focus on. So one of the things we’ve failed to keep afloat in the season of birthing has been our Josh and Neli show

Here’s the last podcast we did on the topic of Fathers… As you’ll hear from our podcast, our stories are very different, but our conclusions the same…

A relevant fathers note from Malachi 4:4-6

4 “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules[b] that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

5 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. 6And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.

I’m reminded from this Scripture that God himself sent 3 institutes to establish his will in Israel, that we can learn from even today:

vs 4 – The Law – For those who are followers of Christ this is indeed now read as guidelines from a loving Father for His children in order to live life maximumly

vs 5 – The Prophets – If the law would be like the map, the prophets would be kind of like tour guides, navigating and announcing the will of the Father for all who follow.

vs 6 – The Parents – Relationally, God himself models parenthood as our perfect Father – here he is showing his strong desire for the earthly manifestation of that relationship between Father (notice it’s the DADS not the MUMS mentioned) and children.
