Neli the Musician
NELI ATIGA was raised in a musical Samoan family – both his mother and father come from a long line of hymn composers, singers and musicians. He was brought up learning classical piano from the age of 5, singing from a young age, and has always been a music enthusiast. In his teens he developed a particular inclination for music from the Hip Hop, Gospel and Jazz genres of music, being involved in high school musicals, while continuing to develop his skills as a songwriter.
In 2001 he became the music director for Every Nation Christian Church in Auckland NZ, and eventually he had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the South Pacific and Australia as a music team trainer, equipping church musicians in their craft. He is also a lead vocalist for NZ hip hop crew – Fenetiks, who have performed on national television, and with other top R n’B, hip hop and jazz musicians in NZ.Neli has since moved to South East Asia, basing himself in Singapore with his wife Cristina (Tina) and their daughters, Nazareth and Jordan, and son, Zion – and is now the music director of Every Nation Church Singapore, who have released the live worship album “Above”.Since being in Asia has had the opportunity to work with a number of local and international artists, and travel to places such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, the Middle East and India to equip and teach church music teams there whilst participating in worship as a musician, songwriter or leader in such events as Every Nation World Conferences, the Genesis Project, In Deep Worship, Celebrate Christmas in Singapore, and the Festival of Praise.
Neli the Pastor
Neli is the son of the late Reverend Neli Maliumai Atiga and grew up as a pastors child. Although music was always at the forefront of what Neli wanted to do, he sensed the call to full time ministry not long after becoming a follower of Christ himself in 1998. Already having graduated 3 years prior with a Bachelors degree in Theology, he returned to do post-graduate work in Theology, when upon completing a Post Graduate diploma in Theology, sensed the timing was right to move into full time ministry at the close of 2000.
Neli worked as a Campus Minister with Every Nation Campus Ministries (now known as Real ministries) based primarily at the University of Auckland, and the Auckland University of Technology, whilst volunteering as a chaplain at Massey University in Auckland. He became the director of Campus Ministries in 2004 seeing God bring members of the campus group garner much favour in student politics, including the Student Body president of the University of Auckland come out of ENCM in 2006.
In late 2006 he moved to Singapore and now has the post of an Associate Pastor with Every Nation Church Singapore, traveling extensively throughout the region speaking and teaching, with a passion particularly to see the arts redeemed, and to see this generation won for the glory of Jesus Christ.
